北京金盾建材有限公司董事长闫志刚于1986年开始从事防水材料及混凝土外加剂的研究和生产，从创立伊始，就致力于系统化的解决防水相关问题，现已成为集科研开发、生产制造、材料销售、工程施工、技术咨询服务于一体的高新技术企业。公司在北京顺义、河北玉田设有大型现代化生产研发基地。公司从1992年开始从事改性沥青系列防水卷材及防水涂料的研究与生产，是国内较早一批的专业防水材料生产企业之一，公司是中国建筑防水协会理事会常务理事，全国防水技术产业联盟常务理事单位，北京市建设工程物资协会防水材料分会副会长单位、北京建筑防水行业诚信联盟会员单位。
金盾公司在行业内率先通过了GB/T 19001-2008/ISO 9001：2008 质量管理体系认证、GB/T 24001-2004/ISO 14001：2004环境管理体系认证、GB/T 28001-2011/OHSAS 18001：2007 职业健康安全管理体系认证、CTC（中国建材）认证以及北京园林科学研究院耐根穿刺防水卷材的阻根测试。公司始终将技术创新作为提升企业核心竞争力的有力抓手，持续加强人才队伍建设，不断提升研究开发能力，公司创建了自己的研发中心，并与各大专业院校和防水行业研究机构合作开展科研公关，成立了若干个科研专题小组，不断研究出新产品新技术，先后获得多项国家发明专利和实用新型专利证书。
